Bay Primary School Acceptable Use Policy

This policy has been formulated by the Technology Committee of the Bay Primary school to assist staff, pupils and parents in making an informed decision in relation to the safe and practical use of technology in education. Bay Primary School provides access to technology devices, Internet, and data systems to employees and students for educational and business purposes. This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) governs all electronic activity of employees and students using and accessing the school’s technology, Internet, and data systems regardless of the user’s physical location.

The AUP policy was developed based on meeting with the following stakeholders of the Technology Committee of the Bay Primary School.

Ms. H Parris
Principal
Mrs. J. Straughn-Puckerin
Information Technology Co-Ordinator
Mrs. N Brathwaite
Early Childhood Co-Ordinator
Mrs. R. Warner-Harris
Senior Teacher Infants
Mr. A. Hinkson
Senior Teacher Juniors
Ms. M Shepherd
Infants Teacher
Mr. J. Clarke
Junior Teacher

Meetings were conducted to discuss the areas to be addressed in the acceptable use policy.  These include behaviours expected of staff and students, unacceptable behaviours and practices of internet users as well as sanctions should these conditions be violated. It was also the decision of the Committee that prior to being granted internet access; parents must thoroughly review and sign the Internet Access Form, and the Acceptable Use Policy attached.

In their Information Technology Classes, critical aspects outlining the responsible use of the school’s network will be conducted with students.  Following this, they will be asked to review with their parents, sign and return the Acceptable Use Policy form, appropriate for their age group.  A similar class on the responsible use of technology will be offered to parents.
